Robert Polidori
“디지털은 잊기 위함이고 아날로그는 간직하기 위함이다”
이 눈에 띄는 문장을 책에서 발견하고 알게 된 사진작가다. 그의 사진도 딱 그렇다. 베르사유 궁전의 보수공사 당시의 사진들이 그의 작품으로 연작 시리즈가 있는데, 굉장히 근사하다. 베르사유 궁전의 보수공사 당시의 모습들을 렌즈에 담았는데 지금까지 내가 봐온 베르사유 궁전의 모습들 중에서 가장 아름다웠다. 사람 하나 없이 텅빈 궁전, 손 때가 묻고 시간이 묻은 문 손잡이, 전시를 기다리며 바닥에 걸쳐놓은 커다란 그림 액자들.
세번째 사진처럼 궁전의 방들이 이어지는 벨벳컬러 문간은 커튼이 드리워진 어두운 공간을 색깔별로 지나친다는 기분 밖에 없었는데 프레임 안에 여러 방이 겹쳐서 담기니까 내가 지금껏 본적 없는 새로운 곳을 보는 느낌이다. 몇년 전 갤러리에서 로버트 폴리도리작가의 전시를 할 때의 전시이름조차도 'Versailles, comme vous ne l'avez jamais vu'
